- „Christ ist erstanden“ (Christ has risen) is an ancient Easter hymn which is very popular in Germany. Its simple dorian melody is perfectly suited for all kinds of variations. In this short piece, I arranged the melody in a rather unusual way – not the heroic, triumphant tune that you would expect for an Easter hymn, but rather a slightly melancholic version based on a spinning triplet movement played by the organ.
Score includes parts for saxophones in B flat and E flat.
